Solar power plant is one of the safest sources of energy. But this is not clear for everyone and some experts suggest that it can be more harmful for environment than we think. Because of that it is good to know not only good sites of PV systems but also those potentially bad.
1. Production process of solar power plant
Like every electrical device, PV panels are made of many different materials like aluminum, silicon or plastic. Extraction and production of such materials is often harmful for natural environment. What is more during process of production there is risk of high SH4 emission which is much worse greenhouse gas then CO2. Luckily long life cycle of PV panels make them much better source of energy than coal or other fossil fuels.
2. Emission during life cycle
One of the main advantages of solar power plant is quiet work, with zero emission of any harmful gases, liquids or radiation. They are only two risks during the exploitation: risk of fire and electric shock. Both of them in most cases are caused by human error during designing or installation of the system.
3. Recycling of PV systems
Many enemies of renewable sources of energy think that in the future we will have huge problem with recycling of PV panels. Luckily this is another big myth. Nowadays we are able to recycle even 90% of materials used to create PV modules. What is more constant developments of those technologies will bring in the future even better efficiency.
Like you can see in case of PV panels there is only marginal impact on natural environment what makes them one of the safest soure of energy on the planet. What is more, thanks to newest achievements of scientists we need less and less fossil fuels to produce them!
